John Stafford, ICE, The Jeff Edwards Award
To my brothers and sisters at NCK,
I would like to say a BIG thank you to the Board of Directors and the membership of NCK
for bestowing upon me the Jeff Edwards Memorial Award. It is a great honor to have my
name associated with his, and the others already on the trophy.
I was fortunate to have witnessed Jeff's spirit and enthusiasm for our sport firsthand.
Because of that, my appreciation of the award is much more than it might be had I not known him.
The day I received this prestigious award was darkened by a black cloud in the passing of
another fine sportsman and friend, Larry Kurpiewski. Much has been written about Larry and
how he selflessly helped any karter who needed it. It's all true and then some. Larry would
have been a perfect and deserving candidate for this award.
And so as I look after this trophy for the next year, I will do so in honor of both Jeff
and Larry. And I will remember how very lucky I am to have known them both.
