Potential Hill Climb Location
|
|||
The paved Donner Hill Climb was canceled for 2003 and 2004... And, since it is unclear whether or not it will ever be run again, I have been searching for other potential hillclimb locations, throughout Northern California. On labor day weekend, my son and I (and my camera) got into the car and took an all day drive. The pictures below are of a 3-mile stretch of road that is in absolutely terrific shape, has approximately 45 turns and has what I guess to be a 1,500+ foot increase in elevation. In viewing the pictures below, keep in mind that there is a constant increase in elevation... Do you know where this section of road is located? Hint - It's over 100-miles, but less than 150-miles from Sacramento. If you would be interested in participating in a paved hill climb (kart, motorcycle or car)... Or, if you have any ideas for potential hill climb locations, please drop me a note (If you have "pop-up blockers" enabled, the link may not function correctly). When trying to find potential locations, keep the fact in mind that karts do not have any suspension. This means that if karts are going to participate, the road must be very smooth - No waffling, pot holes and / or gravel. Also keep in mind that local area residents and businesses have to be able to deal with a multiple-day road closure... i.e. Alternate roads / detours would most likely be required. Special Note: This is a "pet project" of the webmaster of this web site... NCK is a road racing club and does not promote or have any involvement in hillclimbs.
