Use the buttons on the top of the page to navigate to different sections of RRGN site.
Where should you start?
First have a look at the classes being offered (RRGN CLASSES button) and the racing schedule (SCHEDULE button).
Next, have a look at the Pit spots (PIT SPACES button) chart to find yourself a pit or garage spot. If you
are bringing in an RV, you will want to have a look at the RV (RV SPACES button) parking chart.
Pits, garages, and RV spots are available on a first-come first-serve basis! Get yours today! If
you are not planning on spending the night at the track, click the HOTELS/FUN button for a list of
good hotels that are close to the track. This will also show you a list of fun post-race things to
do including activities at the track and away from the track. The TRACK INFO button will take you
to a page about the planned track configuration and technical details of the track. Lastly, the CONTACT
button will lead you to a page containing contact information for several of the main RRGN officials and
planners. IMPORTANT NOTE: No online registration is being offered for the RRGNs. All forms
must be mailed in.

6/27/2010 -- RRGN BBQ and Raffle
The Potluck BBQ will be held at 7pm on Thursday night at the BBQ pit next to
Kerry Matthews' motor home (RV Spot #W8). See the RV Map
for an exact location.
Dinner starts at 7pm with the raffle at 8pm. Raffle tickets are 6 for $5. A good
time is sure to he had by all, so come on over.
6/26/2010 -- Daily Tech Tip, June 26th
All competitors must have a copy of the IKF tech manual in their
pits! This is a very commonly overlooked rule. See 106.3 for
full details.

Low top shoes are not safe or legal for racing. For specifics,

Head tucking (looking down at the steering wheel while on straightaways)

Tires are open in ICE classes, but rear wheels must have beadlocks inside
and out. Only one set is allowed for a 2 20min heat event. See

For the classes that allow it (sprint shifters), the maximum fairing
width is 15.00". 306.9.3 and 306.9.5

For sprint classes, the rear edge of the seat may not extend past
rear edge of the rear axle. 307.2

For all sprint classes, the rear lip of the seat must be a minumum
of 14" off of the ground. See rule 307.1 for clarification. While
checking the seat, also note the minimum seat back angle (rule 307.4).

Affordable cameras have made their way on to the karting scene and
are now extremely popular. Make sure you follow the rules for mounting
them properly! 105.1.6.3.8

Drivers of laydown karts should review rule 302.11.5 (cockpit specs).
6/14/2010 -- Spec Fuel for the RRGNs
The spec fuel for the Road Race Grand Nationals will be the Sunoco
100 unleaded and 110 leaded from the track pumps only.
Classes that must run the 100 octane gasoline: ALL TaG, Rotax, and World Formula Briggs. All other
classes are required to run the 110 octane gasoline.
Permitted oils: Redline Synthetic, Maxima 927, Burris Hi-Rev Castor
Oil ratios: 6-8oz/gallon with a 4oz/gallon minimum in the Rotax classes.
All karts will be tested for fuel (includes comparison to color sample and dip test)
6/14/2010 -- Daily Tech Tip, June 14th
Engine cases in the Super Stock CR125 classes must be stock. The use of
modified cases (legacy cases) is no longer legal (and has not been legal since the end of 2008). 657.12

ICE karts have a minimum wheelbase of 42" and a maximum wheelbase of 46". 304.1.1

For sprint karts, maximum rear track width is 55 1/8". As you are tuning the chassis'
rear end grip, make sure that you do not exceed 55 1/8". 201.3.1

The maximum height of the kart is 26". For most, this will be the top of the driver's
fairing. If you have your MyChron pickup mounted to the top of the fairing, be aware
that the MyChron is included in the 26" maximum. 112.2

Today's tip: Number panels and numbers are a tech item. Make sure that yours comply. 306.8

6/7/2010 -- Get Your RRGN T-Shirts While They Last!
NCK has a limited supply of this
year's Road Race Grand Nationals T-shirt. It is a super nice shirt and a great souvenir
for all of you RRGN competitors and your family/friends, too! Click the image to your
left to see a detailed image of what the front of the shirt will look like. The shirt
is off-white and is available in all sizes. RRGN competitors may order shirts when
submitting their entry form (see our RRGN Web Page for entry form)

5/30/2010 -- An Excellent Day At Buttonwillow!
NCK would like to thank all of you that came out to support our Buttonwillow
event yesterday. We had great weather, some intensely close racing, and
made sure that the paramedics were bored. For many of you, this was a tune-up event
and we hope that you found your testing to be productive.
5/4/2010 -- RRGN Tune-Up Race This Month!
NCK's 3rd race of the 2010 racing season will take place at Buttonwillow on May 29th.
Consider this the "tune up" race before the Road Race Grand Nationals! In addition to
racing on a fast and technical track, you can start working on that "perfect setup"
for the Road Race Grand Nationals event. We hope to see you there!
4/2/2010 -- RRGN Class Sponsors Wanted
NCK is looking for class sponsors for the 2010 IKF Road Race Grand Nationals.

3/9/2010 -- Racing Schedule Updated
The Racing Schedule (available above by clicking the SCHEDULE) button has been updated.
No changes to the schedule have been made, but some clarifications have been made
regarding heat and non-heat races.
3/5/2010 -- Buttonwillow Gate Fee
The Buttonwillow facility charges a $10 gate fee. This fee is separate from your race
entry fee and must be paid the first time you enter the facility. So please have $10
ready when you drive in for the first time. Reminders will be posted as the RRGN event
gets closer.
2/23/2010 -- Trophy Dash Races
At the end of days 2 and 3 (Tuesday and Wednesday), there will be a 5 lap
"trophy dash" race. Tuesday's race will be a TaG race. Class weight is
400 lbs and front brakes are optional. Wednesday's race will be a Super Stock CR125
race. The class weight is 400 lbs. These races are only $25 to enter. The will
be fun to run and fun to watch!
2/20/2010 -- Welcome To The 2010 RRGN Site!
Welcome to the IKF Road Race Grand Nationals web site! This event is proudly brought to
you by Northern California Karters (NCK).
NCK and its many volunteers are pulling out all the stops to make this an
exciting week of racing! With one full day of practice, three days of racing, and after
hours entertainment for the entire family, NCK will make this a truly memorable
event. In the planning stages are the picnic style BBQs after each race day, a large
screen TV under the patio showing all the old time favorite racing movies, raffles,
and more.
NCK is making it the event more affordable to race this year with a payment plan option.
