At the Thunderhill race, 2 Super Stock CR125 karts were observed to have the Hegar style "bubble"

Please bring your questions to the next race and talk to Roger Miller or the Tech Director.

We're about 6 weeks away from our next race. NCK Round 2 will take place
at famed Thunderhill Raceway Park. As a reminder, NCK has a new mentor program
in place this year. Check the FORMS section to your left.
Thunderhill is an ideal track for first-time road racers.
It is fast, easy to learn, but it has technical corners like the infamous
"cyclone" that make it a difficult track to master. Remember that your efforts
as a mentor help is rewarding, helps the club, and benefits you personally
in the form of a free "All You Can Race" entry.

2/14/2010 -- Thanks from NCK
The season is off to a good start! After the fog burned off, all I can say is “WOW!”.
You could not have asked for better day weather wise. Once the track dried off I kept
hearing how fast it was. I tried to stop by each pit and thank you for coming. If I
missed you, I would like to say "Thank you!" for making the event a success. Special
thanks go out to all of the long-haul racers from Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and Southern
California. We had several Novices out for the first time and I’m sure they still have
smiles on their faces.
NCK will open the Grand Nationals site on February 19th. We are pulling out all of the stops to
make this truly a Grand Nationals that you won’t forget.
Our next race will be on May 1st at Thunderhill. In a couple of weeks, we will post information
on how we are going to implement self Pre-Tech.
Unoffical results will be posted soon. Please stay tuned.

NCK President
2/11/2010 -- No Late Fees For Infineon
NEWS FLASH! NCK is waving the registration LATE FEES for Infineon, so all of you that are sitting on the fence
need to come out and join us!
With just a few days to until the start of the season, I hope you all are ready for some good racing!
NCK will be trying some new things this year to see if we can make your day a little easier at the track.
First, you will be getting your drivers packet in the mail if you pre-entered and have your arm bands. We are
going to have a person come by each racers pit area. You will then be required to sign the waver sheet.
If you have any minors, the minor wavier form must be filled out correctly. This applies to all
minors in the paddock area.
Those who entered late will need to go to Registration and pick up your stuff their. The arm band must be on your
left arm and visible at all times. Anybody entering the hot pits area must show the arm band to the
Official at the gate. Please: Nochildren in the Hot Pit area.
I would like you all to review the NCK policies and rules listed in the FORMS section of this web site.
Beginning at Thunderhill, we will implement a self pre-tech. All karts will be required to go through normal
Pre-Tech before your first outing of the season. All novices will go thru Pre-Tech at every race until
they have received their red IKF card.
I hope see you all at Infineon.
Mark Morrison
NCK President
2/8/2010 -- Weather for Infineon Looks Good!!
It looks like the weather gods are once again smiling upon us for the Infineon
event. According to weather.com, accuweather.com, weatherforyou.com, and weatherbug.com,
we are going to have a sunny day.
2/6/2010 -- Register Soon / Infineon Weather
One of the best ways to save money while racing is to register on time! Online
registration is easier, cheaper, and makes for a lot less stress on race day morning.
Please see the Online Race Registration instructions by clicking on/hovering over the
REGISTRATION button.
Lots of you are waiting to see if rain will come for the Infineon race. With 7 days
to go, accuweather.com and weatherforyou.com are predicting sunshine.
As a reminder, if Infineon is declared a wet event and you do not wish to race in
the rain, you may roll your entry over to the round #2 at Thunderhill. You must be
present at the track to roll your entry over. So, mount up those rain tires. It is
the best way to ensure that it will be a sunny day!
2/1/2010 -- Please Support The Infineon Event
Fellow Karters,
NCK is a non-profit member-based organization. We strive to provide a venue for road races in the west.
We do our best to keep prices as low as we can considering the rising costs associated with renting
tracks and the lack of prime dates that we receive. We are scheduled to race on Saturday, February 13th at
Infineon. We currently lack enough entries to even come close to covering a portion of the expenses.
Unfortunately, our bank account is not infinite. There is no bailout coming for kart road racing. We
either make it or we don't. Without the support of the racers, our current four race series could be significantly
impacted by a poor turnout for this first race. The current forecast shows no rain on Saturday although
that is still 12 days away. The track charges us regardless of whether we race in the rain or not.
The bottom line is this: We must be able to cover expenses or we can fold the tent and find another hobby.
You, the racers, are the only ones who can decide our fate. Remember that pre-registration will close early,
so avoid the late fees.
Thank you,
Mark Morrison, President NCK
The NCK Board

1/4/2010 -- Pending IKF Rule Changes
The next IKF Board of Directors meeting will take place on January 23rd-24th.
The hot possible rule change involves the addition of the RLV R4 pipe to the
Super Stock CR125 classes. Changes to IKF rules are normally enacted 30 days
after the change is passed. However, NCK will immediately act on any rules
changes from the next IKF BOD meeting.

changes for any of our classes.

Most of the dates are confirmed, but NCK is working to possibly obtain more race

in order to break even. NCK is seeking input from you, the club members and racers,
about your willingness to attend races on alternate dates. NCK is looking to make informed
decisions before commiting to race dates. Please take the raceday survey that is available to your left by clicking the CURRENT POLL button.

11/3/2009 -- Change to TAG Starter Rule
At previous NCK events, a working starter was required in TAG classes per IKF rules. This was a pre-tech item. IKF has
changed the ruling on starters (see section 275.1.8). Summary of new rule: At Pre-Tech, engine must have all
starter system components intact and connected properly
As a result, NCK will immediately apply this standard as Pre-Tech for TAGs for the remainder of 2009. So, the
components must be there, including a battery, and it must all be connected properly, but it does not have to function.

7/30/2009 -- Important Note About Fuel At Wild Willow!
For Willow springs, the fuel at the track is VP - 91 - 100 and 110. The 100 is unleaded street gas that contains methanol.
The 100 octane gas will not pass tech. You must bring your own 100 octane gas if you plan to run 100 octane gas.
Or, simply use the 110 octane gas at the track.
